News

AppleTree Preschool Centres is operating as usual during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are continuing to provide fully-inclusive care and high-quality education for children aged two years to six years. There have been no changes to our operating hours.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) starting again from 13 July 2020

If you were receiving CCS before 6 April 2020, it will automatically start again if you’ve stayed eligible and your enrolment is current and confirmed.

Follow these five steps to make sure you’ve stayed eligible and receive the right amount of CCS:

  1. Give Centrelink your 202021 family income estimate to receive the correct CCS percentage and avoid an overpayment.
  2. Check your activity hours to receive the correct amount of hours of CCS per fortnight*.
  3. Make sure your child meets immunisation requirements.
  4. Check your child’s enrolment details are current with your child care service and re-enrol if you need to.
  5. Confirm your income for 2018–19 if you haven’t already by 30 June 2020.

*From 13 July 2020, the Australian Government is easing the activity test for CCS. This means you may be able to apply for extra activity hours if COVID-19 has affected you. There will be more information about how to do this in July.

If you’re new to child care, you should claim CCS as soon as possible. From 13 July 2020, you’ll pay full fees unless you’re getting CCS.

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has created an information sheet for families about the transition arrangements for the end of the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package and the return to CCS.

Rise & Shine Education Bushfire Charity Support Plan

We are so sad to see the devastation the Australian Bushfires is having on communities, wildlife and our firefighters.

Over the past few weeks, we have been working on a plan to find out how we can best provide long-term support, raise awareness and educate the children in our centres about the situation.

The effects of the Bushfire crisis is and will remain an on-going issue that Australians will be dealing with for months, if not years. We wanted to ensure that our approach assists those in need not just immediately, but in the difficult times ahead as well.

We have already begun several support initiatives and have been moved by the positive response from our staff, families and social media followers.

Based on discussions, feedback received through multiple avenues and a poll on Facebook, Rise & Shine Kindergarten have put together a support plan including the following initiatives:

1) Monetary Donation to the RFS

First and foremost, victims and communities need monetary donations. Based on the results of our recent Facebook poll, the overwhelming response was to support the RFS. Rise & Shine Kindergarten will donate $1 per new page like in January to this charity.

2) Monetary donation to Red Cross appeal

In our Facebook poll, we had several people vote for the Red Cross appeal to support. Whilst this charity organisation hasn’t received the most votes in the poll, we do feel it is such a great organisation to support and as a thank you to those who voted in our poll Rise & Shine Kindergarten will donate $1 on behalf of each person who voted for this charity in our poll.

3) Partnership with WIRES

We have received a lot of pleas to look at ways to support Wildlife who are suffering as a result of these fires. Rise & Shine Kindergarten will support this cause through an Annual Corporate Sponsorship.

4) Care packages through WIRES

As a way of including our children in this plan, our centres will become Virtual Carers of animals through WIRES. As a part of this package, we will receive monthly updates on animals and resources that we can share with our children.

5) Thank you gift to Firefighters

We will provide a gift to any Firefighters who have children enrolled at our centre as a token of appreciation for their work.

The details of this support plan may vary over the coming months to accommodate new challenges or circumstances that arise as a result of the bushfires, but our overall aim is to support in the best way we can and provide continuous support.
